Fire at NCC Vending Booths at the Queen’s Park Savannah

Port of Spain, Trinidad, June 9, 2020: At approximately 12:45 pm on June 9, 2020, a fire broke out at the National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago (NCC) vending booths located at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.

NCC CEO, Colin Lucas, said, “As a result of the fire, six booths were levelled. Thankfully, these booths had long been cleared out, and were thus empty, following their use for Carnival 2020. They were scheduled for dismantling from next week Monday.

“There were neither major casualties nor any significant additional property damage as the fire was quickly contained to just that immediate area.”

“The NCC is immensely grateful for the swift and decisive actions of the Fire Service and the Police Service in getting this situation under control.”

“As you can expect, the matter is under investigation, and a man who was in the immediate area of the fire is currently assisting the Police with their enquiry. The NCC looks forward to working closely with all the relevant authorities in bringing satisfactory closure to this matter,” Lucas added.
