Junior Masqueraders Collect Their Prizes
The St James Children’s Carnival Committee recently held its Awards Function at the St. Agnes Parish Hall, Clarence Street, St. James.
Over 40 plus winners in the various categories collected their cheques and trophies before a large audience comprising parents and sponsors.
Before the main event, Mr. Randolph Charles Jr, Regional Carnival Coordinator, Mr. Mark Ayen, President Trinidad & Tobago Carnival Bands Association and Mr. Duane O’Connor, Secretary of the St. James Community Improvement Committee brought greetings on behalf of their respective organizations.
Among the multiple winners was Zebapique Productions, “You Ever See”, which captured the Yvonne Mungal Band of the Year Challenge Trophy, Best Creative Topical Band and 1st Place Large Band category. Not to be outdone was Classix Productions who, in addition to placing second in their category, took the lion’s share of Individuals prizes.
Special awards were presented to Fun Time Mas Production (Best African Band), DMC Kids Mas Band (Most Original), Classix Productions (Best Historical Band) Clan Mas Production (Best Traditional/Ole Time Carnival, including the 1 o’Clock Award to Trini Minis, for the first band to cross the staging area.
Also collecting major prizes were King and Queen of the Bands, Amari Gaspard and Jaya Forde, as well as the Male & Female Individuals, Kayden De Peiza and Ciara Jacob.
The 35th edition of the St. James Children’s Carnival Parade took place on Sunday February 23, 2025 along the Western Main Road, St. James witnessed by hundreds of spectators.
