NCC Welcomes Thousands of Schoolchildren to the John Cupid Carnival Village 2026

Jan 28, 2026

Port of Spain, Trinidad, Wednesday, January 28, 2026: Over the past week, more than 3000 primary and secondary schoolchildren from more than 50 schools across the nation seized the opportunity to celebrate at the John Cupid Carnival Village, immersing themselves in the sights, sounds and stories of Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival.

From 10 am to 2 pm daily, students learned about Trinidad and Tobago Carnival culture through interactive exhibitions from traditional Carnival characters, guest presentations, and special concerts featuring some of the biggest names in Carnival music today.

Since opening its doors on Friday, January 9, the NCC John Cupid Carnival Village, at the Queen’s Park Savannah continues to hold the interest of thousands of attendees this Carnival season as a cultural destination that blends art, music, food, and electric performances.

In its new expanded home, the John Cupid Carnival Village has proudly carried forward its longstanding tradition of introducing Carnival culture to the nation’s youth, offering thousands of schoolchildren an authentic and uniquely Trinbagonian Carnival experience that combines learning, creativity and celebration.

In expressing his support of the Commission’s youth-based Carnival outreach programmes, NCC Chairman, Peter Kanhai said,” As we continue to deepen the relationship between the Ministry of Education and the National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago, we are pleased to offer the John Cupid Carnival Village as an ideal space to develop the love for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival within our Nation’s schoolchildren.”

“Apart from the NCC’s drive to support the Ministry’s existing curriculum development programmes, we truly believe that the Village is one of the most effective ways to afford hundreds of primary and secondary school children access to a fun and safe Trini Carnival experience that mixes learning and appreciation with fun and entertainment,” Kanhai added.

With a successfully run school tours programme, the John Cupid Carnival Village prepares to close its doors for the Carnival 2026 season with a Brass + More Brass concert on Wednesday, January 28, starting at 7 pm.

The NCC wishes to thank all patrons, artistes, and stakeholders of the John Cupid Carnival Village 2026 – a proud celebration of Carnival’s past, present and future, bringing generations together in the heart of the Queen’s Park Savannah.
