The National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago (NCC) invites suitably qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO).
THE ROLE
The Chief Operations Officer is a senior leadership position responsible for coordinating and directing the operational delivery of the NCC and ensuring that approved plans, programmes and services are implemented efficiently and effectively.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board, the COO will provide leadership and oversight in areas including operations and technical services, facilities and infrastructure, safety and security, project and programme delivery, regional Carnival operations, and assigned partnership and funding initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate the NCC’s strategic objectives and approved priorities into effective operational plans and deliverables
- Coordinate day-to-day operational activities and ensure effective service delivery
- Lead major operational projects, Carnival readiness activities, venue preparation, logistics, infrastructure and security
- Monitor operational performance, identify gaps and implement appropriate improvements
- Coordinate the effective use of personnel, facilities, equipment and other operational resources
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Legal/Corporate Governance and other functional areas
- Monitor operational budgets, risks, safety, compliance and project performance
- Lead operational change and process-improvement initiatives
- Support stakeholder partnerships, sponsorships, grants and other approved funding initiatives
- Provide regular operational reports, recommendations and updates to the CEO
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Project Management, Public Administration, Corporate Communications, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
- Substantial senior management experience involving responsibility for complex operations, projects, budgets, teams and cross-functional delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in organisational change, process improvement, stakeholder engagement and performance management.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, planning, communication and decision-making skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a high-pressure and time-sensitive environment.
- A relevant Master’s Degree or postgraduate qualification would be an asset.
- Experience in public-sector operations, major events, cultural organisations, partnerships or grant funding would also be considered an asset.
