National Stickfighting Competition 2025 – Finalists

Port of Spain, Trinidad, February 20, 2025: The National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago (NCC) is pleased to announce the six finalists who will compete in the National Stick Fighting Competition Finals 2025 on Wednesday, February 26 at Skinner Park, San Fernando at 7 pm.

The 2025 Finalists are:

  • Daniel Barclay
  • Selwyn John
  • Ronald Lewis
  • Anderson Marcano
  • Oniel Odle
  • Wendell Wright

They now move on to the finals following a hotly contested semifinal round at the Sangre Grande Indoor Facility, Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande on Wednesday, February 19.

Despite a significantly delayed start due to lighting difficulties, the Stickfighting community, who turned out in their numbers, supported the event late into the evening.

The Commission sincerely apologises for the delayed start to Wednesday’s semifinals. We thank the community for its understanding and for its ongoing cooperation in preserving Stickfighting traditions through safer competition.

The Commission especially wishes to thank the Sangre Grande and environs communities for their patience during Wednesday’s semifinals and for providing the opportunity to host a well-attended and well-supported Stickfighting semifinals.

Having produced some of the best stickfighters in our nation’s history, Sangre Grande continues to be a fertile ground for growing and nourishing our rich cultural tradition of Stickfighting across the Nation.

The Commission is grateful to have once again partnered with the local organisers in keeping Stickfighting strong.

The NCC National Stickfighting Competition 2025 concludes on Wednesday, February 26 at Skinner Park, San Fernando at 7 pm.
