The St. James Children’s Carnival Parade is an important cultural event that takes place two weekends before the National Carnival Commission (NCC) Junior Parade of the Bands. It celebrates and nurtures the artistic talents of our youth while instilling a sense of community pride. Once again, the participants have truly embodied the spirit of carnival, showcasing their imaginative costumes and innovative themes.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of these young performers,” said Keron Moraldo, member of the Organizing Committee.

Adding: “Their creativity and enthusiasm have been truly inspiring, and we are proud to recognize their contributions to this cherished tradition.”

This year saw a greater number of bands parading along the length of the Western Main Road, then showcasing their costumes before two (2) panels of judges in front of the St. James Amphitheatre and Park.

St. James Children’s Carnival is the brainchild of the late Ken Valley and subsequently staged by Ms Yvonne Mungal (des.) of the St. James Working Council. It has been a Carnival staple for many years affording the youngsters another chance to jump up, palance and ramajay with their peers.

2025 will mark the 35th year since the Parade started and as such the Committee revealed it intends to mark this auspicious milestone with an event rivalling its senior counterpart.
